VU University: Lauch of the CAMeRA a big success
Champagne and toast with salmon, a multimedia show, projection screens with many moving and colorful presentations and a delicious lunch. On Friday November 2, the interfaculty research institute CAMeRA, Center for Advanced Media Research Amsterdam, festively opened. The festivities were streamed live on a large projection screen in the hall of the dazzling OZW Building, where businesses and researchers exhibited their contributions to the CAMeRA institute. For example, a ‘rollator’ developed by LogicaCMG with GPS system and camera, which can have a wireless connection with a care center or with your child, so that you can always see where ‘grandmother hangs out.’ Or an ingenious program created by the Intelligent Information Systems group that based on your preferences creates a personal tour through the Rijksmuseum. These are applications of new media and technology, the area where CAMeRA focuses on. Prof. dr. Lex Bouter, president of the VU University, expressed to have great expectations of the research that the faculties of Social Sciences, Sciences, Psychology and Pedagogy as well as Humanities are to carry out in this institute.
